Chief Medical Officer’s report highlights link between air pollution and dementia

The Chief Medical Officer’s Annual Report for 2024 has been published, this year focusing on Health in Cities. 

In his report, Prof. Chris Whitty, Chief Medical Officer for England, looks at a range of health challenges in urban areas including health inequalities and deprivation. Dementia is mentioned most notably with the link to air pollution, which features in the Lancet Commission study on risk factors for dementia https://journalofdementiacare.co.uk/the-lancet-risk-factors-for-dementia.
