Home Instead publish their 2025 New Ageing Index
Home Instead has published their 2025 New Ageing Index, the 4th edition of this annual report.
Research in the 2025 report, that was repeated quarterly over the past year, asked questions about public perceptions of ageing and the concerns families have about caring for loved ones.
Key findings include:
- 43% of those supporting a relative with dementia say they’ve left employment to do so, up from 37% in just 10 months.
- 31% of family carers say dementia is the disease they fear the most, up from 27%.
- 77% of family carers say they need more support, up from 68% when the research began.
Topics covered within the report include health and wellbeing, technology, politics and social care, with a significant part of the report dedicated to dementia.
Martin Jones MBE, Home Instead CEO UK and International, says:
“Over the past year, we’ve seen a clear shift in how Britain views ageing and care. Dementia has become our greatest fear, and the strain on families caring for loved ones is growing. If we can’t cure dementia, we must at least care better – for those living with the disease and for the families supporting them. The findings show the public is ready for change. It’s time for the government, business and policymakers to listen and act.”
