Dementia Carers Count respond to ADASS Autumn survey

Dementia Carers Count (DCC) has responded to the Adult Directors of Social Services (ADASS) Autumn Survey, which shows that 81% of councils are expected to overspend their adult social care budgets this year – a significant rise from 72% in 2023/24.

Frances Lawrence, CEO of Dementia Carers Count, says:

“These latest findings from ADASS are deeply concerning as they highlight the ongoing and increasing pressures on local authorities to provide people with the care and support that they need. Despite most councils overspending on adult social care, we know that there are far too many people who are struggling without any support.

Our research shows that only half of dementia carers are receiving an assessment of their needs, and less than a third of dementia carers have been able to access support when they have needed it.”
