A charity specialising in medical ID jewellery, which is working with the police to trace and support people with dementia who become lost, is offering first year membership free. MedicAlert UK has launched the “Safe & Found” programme in the UK, in which the charity holds a copy of the Herbert Protocol Form containing a photo and relevant information about anyone with dementia who may go missing. Thanks to sponsorship from the McLay Dementia Trust, more than 800 people living with dementia in the UK will be able to enjoy free membership of the scheme for one year. Information on the form will be shared with the police or other emergency professionals if someone calls the helpline and a missing person search needs to be triggered.
